What’s next?
This is where Kent Intensive Driving School can help!
We will be able to help you through the 3 qualifying tests to become an ADI.
ADI Part 1
The theory test (£81), which comprises a multiple-choice part and a
hazard perception part.
To help you prepare for this, we will be available to answer any questions you may have, and this will not attract any financial cost.
Once passed, you will have two years to complete the whole process of becoming an AD.
ADI Part 2
The driving ability (£111), which is a 60-minute drive, with the ability to demonstrate several driving skills, including expert handling of the controls, use of correct road procedure, the anticipation of the actions of other road users, and then taking appropriate action, sound judgement of distance, speed and timing, consideration for the convenience and safety of other road users, driving in an environmental friendly manner.
You will drive in varying road and traffic conditions, including motorways or dual carriageways, where possible.
ADI Part 3
The instructional ability test (£111)
To achieve this, you will need to evidence 40 hrs of in-car teaching and observational experience. This can be captured over a previous/rolling period of 6-month experience, including observing other ADI’s teaching.
Once fulfilled, you can then submit the application to book your Part 3 and apply to become a Trainee Driving Instructor (TDI -Pink Licence).
If you decide to take the TDI route, you will need to be sponsored by an ADI, which will allow you to commence teaching at a lower hourly rate but, within six months, deliver a further 20 hours of teaching.
To prepare you for this, we will provide a combination of in-car and observational hours at the cost of £40 p/hr.
